Monday Morning Stories WIth Mookie - Episode 111

The Time Mookie and Megan Hired Home Town Restyling
(And It Was A Nightmare) Part IV

This story is a short one, but something I noticed over the weekend pretty much forced me to add a "Part IV" to the already extensive Hometown Restyling saga my wife and I went through. I had hoped that my saga had ended with Part III, but as you will see here - the Hometown Restyling Saga will probably never die.

You can read the previous parts if you click below:

I got up on a ladder over the weekend while doing some of my "spring time" duties, and began to take the cover off the 2nd floor air conditioner. As I was undoing the straps and removing the cover, I looked down at the window ledge and noticed a couple spaces where there was some yellow blobs sticking out. Obviously this was NOT something that I had seen previously.

THEN I remembered that this past fall, my wife and I had taken the trim off that window inside the house and sprayed that expanding foam insulation into the cracks between the window and the wall. We knew that Hometown Restyling had done a HORRIBLE job insulating most of our windows when they installed them, but this window seemed extra bad because we constantly felt drafts and cold air that came from the window - even though it was shut. So we sealed it up.

What I saw on the ladder left me a little speechless.  Look at that blob. Who knows what kind of cavernous blob of space lies behind that trim and under the window. Obviously its full now, but it's extra sad because instead of coming back into the house when it expanded - it went outside. There was another spot just out of the picture, but it was not as big as this one. Just horrible horrible and shoddy worksmanship.

I mean I could have done better than this.

But seriously....FYI - If you are in the market for some home remodeling, I urge you to think twice about hiring Hometown Restyling yourself.  Seriously, you can't even make up the shit they put us through.  Who knows what they might do to you........I wouldn't wish that upon anyone.
If you do hire them though, tell Wayne "Hi" for me.
